In the background, we'll continue to encode to a more portable format, but you're video will be viewable in the native embedded player.

In addition to native player support, we've also added the option to download the original video, so those without embedded players can watch on their desktop with their player of choice.

If you have any problems with the new features, specifically, if a native format should be supported by the quicktime or wmv players, and we're not handling it correctly, drop me a message, or leave a comment here.

If you want to guarantee the quality of your video posting on Buzznet, the easiest and most reliable way to do so is to encode your video into the Flash Video format, or .flv. We'll simply check the validity of the file, and pass it directly through the processing cycle.

Here are a few tools that will allow you to take the encoding process into your own hands:

Flash Professional 8 - $$
Sorenson Squeeze - $$
Riva FLV Encoder - Free
Digital Groover - Free
FFMpeg - Free command line tool

I'm sure there are more out there, and if anyone wants to drop me a line about how they're encoding, I'd be happy to share it with everyone.

Thanks, and keep the videos coming in.

This service is still in beta while we iron out any issues encountered with uploads and encoding. Like I said in an earlier post, if you have any problems with video, please send me a message, specifically with the file type ( as much detail as you can provide would be helpful, such as the audio and video encoding of the original if you know it), the link on Buzznet that refers to the broken video, and any other info that could be helpful in troubleshooting the issue.

Thank you for contributing, and helping us to provide a better service.

Kevin
